Chez Celine is where we love to eat pastries, Carboncitosis where we love to hang for drinks and Mexican food. Ah Cacao is where we love, love, love to have coffee and chocolate. Yes, we admit it, coffee and chocolate all in one sitting. It is a midday treat as it seems wrong (?) to have chocolate for breakfast, and coffee can keep us up at night. So our midday treat is more regularly than we care to admit, a fair trade cafe late and some chocolate mouse at Ah Cacao!

Playa del Carmen is a great place to hang out, chill and relax. There is more than enough to keep you busy between the beach, 5th Ave, Restaurants and events. Part of the charm of the Riviera Maya is the proximity to the beach AND the jungle, proximity to cenotes AND Mayan ruins, proximity to Sian Kaan Biosphere AND Tulum.

As a resident of Playa del Carmen, commonly known as a local, what do we like to do in Playa del Carmen other than work and make sure you have great time while you are here! Days off are few and far between, it is true and we have little opportunity to really hang and do the fun things that guests do while on vacation, but we do have a few things that we love to do when there is a minute to chill.

There is a famous quote, the devil is in the details and though we are NOT the devil we sure do love the details. Any hotel can provide a bed, a roof and some towels. Any tour guide can take you to a destination site and walk you around. Anyone can serve up a cup of coffee, fruit and yogurt for breakfast. But not everybody looks closely at the details of each of these experience. Not everybody takes the time to think through the little details that will make every moment, just that much better.

Enough about the hotel. Most people know who we are, what we offer our guests and where we are located, Playa del Carmen, Mexico just south of Cancun and on one of the most desired beaches in North America. One block from the hotel is the Mexican Caribbean, the ocean, the blue blue sea that is shown in so many vacation photos. The water really is that blue and we really are just 2 steps, 2 big steps!

Just like the song, ch-ch-ch-changes have happened at Hotel Cielo. New amenities are in, the rooms had had a bit of an up-grade. We don't know what we were waiting for, but the wait is over! It has been fun designing these changes and finding the exact items that we think will be appreciated and noticed. WE have thought about our guest experience seriously and we are happy with the result.
